How does the lottery know Iff there le a Lotto jackpot winner? A: After each Lotto drawing, lottery officials conduct a computer search of all six-number combinations played for that drawing, looking for any ticket matching all six numbers drawn. If someone has matched all six numbers, the lottery can determine where and when the ticket was purchased. Winners who buy tickets at lottery retailers must bring their winning ticket to lottery headquarters to be identified and to receive their jackpot prize. The lottery will notify winners who played Lotto By Mail.
