power lines are slow to sell.
She introduced County Adminis- . trator John McCarthy who said the members of the Board of Supervisors all “expressed opposition” to the power line when REC representatives met with them in August. He said the supervisors had decided to “retain outside special counsel” to advise them on how to oppose the transmission line.
He advised them not to support another route for the power line through Rappahannock County. “We’re not interested in trading one group of outraged homeowners for another group of outraged property owners,” he said.
Mrs, Terry showed slides of the proposed lines, similar to those crossing from Luray to Sperryville.
Hal Creel said, “I really want to keep it out of the county whether it crosses our property or somebody else’s property.” Mr. Creel said he works in Washington, I).C. on Capitol Hill and knows that "a lot of letters makes a difference.” He suggested that everyone write several letters, including handwritten ones and urge their friends, even people who don’t live in the county but visit it for its beauty, to write.
