Meanwhile, abortion, a major issue in the governor’s race four years ago, has not been as significant this time ground. Mr. Allen supports requiring parental consent for abortions on minors. He favors a 24-hour waiting period for an abortion, and has called for further study of the issue. Ms. Terry is opposed in general to changing the state’s laws on abortions.
There is a third candidate in the race for governor. Nancy Spannaus is running as an independent. She is a follower of Lyndon LaRouche. Her campaign is not expected to have much affect on the outcome of the balloting.
