As the Virginia elections draw nearer, charges and counter-charges issue forth from the candidates.
I am fed up with the attacks which portray Christians as some evil, destructive group of fanatics ready to ruin our schools and our state, who should stay completely out of the political arena. Pat Robertson is pictured as an ogre ready to pounce on the destroy public education and Mike Farris as a destroyer of a sacred cow, i.e. fairy tales. Now, come on!
Bill Dolan, attorney general candidate, in a TV spot said, “We can’t let our schools fall into the hands of the religious right.” The schools have been in the hands of the humanistic religion for a long time.
The progression of serious problems in the schools has been steadily mounting as Christian values have been replaced with humanistic theory. I experienced these changes during my twenty years as a public school classroom teacher, including the decade of the sixties. Many of Dr. Spock’s and others’ crackpot ideas of permissiveness spilled over into the classrooms of our nation. We are now reaping what was sown.
