By owning the new Richmond office building, Virginia’s taxpayers will save $13 million that would have been thrown out the window in RENT payments. That’s 13 million more dollars we’ll have for education. A portion of lottery profits, not tax dollars, will be used to retire the building bond debt.

Seven State Agencies that NOW RENT office space in Richmond will be housed in a new building we’ll own. The lottery offices will take up only half the space. Plus, the first floor will be income producing retail space.

14 Republican Senators and House Members voted for the building, too. They provided the margin to pass the bond bill. Now they’re hiding from that vote, using ; the “Lottery” building for short term political gain.

* Both parties agreed. When bond interest rates are low, it’s good long term business planning to save money rather than continue to waste it.
