The Rappahannock Monarchs defeated the New Market Rebels 3-1 in the first game of the first round of play-offs in Apple Valley baseball' league action.
David “Scratch” Clanagan led Rapp at the plate with three singles. The hero of the game was Luther Alexander who pitched seven and a half innings before the Rebels finally scored on an error. Luther struck out 11 and only walked three.
Rapp and New Market will resume play-off action Sunday July 31 at Rebel Park in New Market at 1 p.m. v
