In addition the school system is looking for a job coach for high school special education students who work part of the day. This is a two-hour a day job, Dr. Gangel said.
Cindy Cumins has been hired for another high school English position. She finished out the year in that position last year. Eugene Baltimore was hired for another high school physical education position. Jennifer Kephart was hired as a speech teacher. She also worked in that position last year.

Other planners suggested the B and B guild and the Sperryville and Washington business councils could be approached to contribute part of the county’s share. Mr. Irwin suggested if the county had money to invest, it could instead contribute to the Foothills Travel Association which publishes similar brochures for counties in Planning District 9 and Greene County.
New member Tom Junk from Sperryville said he would oppose using tax money for such a, purpose. The issue was left unresolved as the planners asked Ms. Pierce to continue attending meetings of the group and report back.
The planners decided to postpone, at least temporarily, an area study of the Amissville area and to instead look into having a study of county water resources done. Last month Robert Dennis of the Piedmont Environmental Council suggested the county do such a study. Mr. McCarthy said if the county’s fiscal picture looks good in January or February the planners could consider asking the Board of Supervisors if they could also begin the process of doing an area study.
Chairman Mike Massie asked his fellow planners what format they would like to follow in updating the Comprehensive Plan. Member Sid Gottlieb suggested there should be more emphasis in the beginning of the document on the goals, and the statistics, which make up the bulk of the document, could be appendices.
Mr. Massie said, “The goals have to derive from the facts.” They decided the revised Comprehensive Plan could begin with a one-page summary of the goals.
