The 12-member Bed and Breakfast Guild of Rappahannock unanimously approved a statement opposing the Disney’s America development at Haymarket last week. The statement will be presented to the Planning Commission at its August meeting.

The statement begins, “The Bed and Breakfast Guild of Rappahannock County does not feel that the Disney theme park proposed to be built in Haymarket, Va, will .in any way enhance the business of our members. The Guild also does not believe that the park will increase tourist revenues for other Rappahannock County businesses.”

The statement says Disney goers would seek less expensive food and lodging, such as chain motels and fast food. It notes that Disney is planning to appeal to families with children, while the local B & Bs appeal primarily to adult couples, “most trying to escape from their own children for an evening or weekend. They are willing to pay top dol-1 lar for first-class accommodations and dining, and are often seeking seclusion and a remembrance of romance.” It noted that about 66
