to prior commitments. Ruth, however, did attend and helped Amenta with food serving.
Charles Burrell Wood, Jr., son of Charles and Margaret lives and teaches school in St. Petersburg, Florida. Prior to teaching, he was a member of the U.S. Coast Guard for twenty years. He is married to the former Norma Jean Gentry, a professional Nurse Practitioner who is connected with a Veteran’s Administration hospital in her state. They have a daughter, Holly Wood Stewart, who lives in Lakeworth, Florida with her husband William Peter Stewart, Jr. Both are full time graduate students and were unable to join the family group. Burrell and Norma also have a son, John Russell Wood, who is still in high school. He too was unable to attend the reunion because he was training in a sailing regatta in Chicago.
Guests at the reunion including not only those mentioned above, but special guests: John Roberts, Carol Men, Dick Echols, Barbara Holdren and Kathy and Layne Hood.
Following a great day under the oaks at Amenta’s house, guests departed for their homes. The following Tuesday, June 21, four guests — still enthusiastically family oriented took a trip from Richmond to Rappahannock County. Ann Corson, her daughter, Claudia, Amenta and her daughter, Nancy,, visited familiar sites in Flint Hill and the county that they remembered from their childhood — the main one being Sunny Slope Home for Adults — which used to be the home of their grandparents, called Sunny Slope Farm. It was gratifying to see the old place looking well tended and serving a highly useful purpose. The owners, Wilma and James Burke, are to be congratulated for their fine contributions to today’s elderly citizens. That visit really capped the climax! The memorial reunion to Lucy Henry Wood and honoring Ann Wood Corson rang with success!
