H.C. Rutherford *

Haywood Clifton Rutherford, 82, of Culpeper, died July 19 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.

Mr. Rutherford was bom in Rappahannock County on July 30, 1911, to the late Ella Clark Rutherford and William Jube Rutherford.

He was a member of Hope Hill 'Baptist Church.

Mr. Rutherford is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ella Melva Rutherford; three daughters, Elizabeth Anne Kearns of Culpeper, Martha Amelia Knighting of Castleton and Suvella Mae Kenney of Richardsville; and one son, Elmer Clifton Rutherford of Lanham, Md.

Mr. Rutherford is also survived by seven grandchildren; five greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Harry Rutherford of Castleton and Charlie Rutherford of Sperryville; and one sister, Ella Mae Atkins of Front Royal.

Mr. Rutherford was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother.

Funeral services were held Friday, July 22 at Found & Sons Chapel in Culpeper with the Rev. John Lines officiating.

Interment was in the Fairview Cemtery.

Sophia Corbin

Sophia Mason Corbin, 88, of Front Royal, died Tuesday, July 19 at Royal Haven Rest Home.

Graveside services were held Thursday, July 21 at the Washington Masonic Cemetery with Rev. James W. Burke officiating.

Mrs. Corbin was bom January 20, 1906, in Rappahannock County, daughter of the late James Albert and Mary Elizabeth Wayland Mason.

She was a member of the Woodville Baptist Church. *.

She was married to the late Lewis Connor Corbin.

She is survived by two daughters, Betty C. Foster of Flint Hill and Shirley M. Corbin of Front Royal; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

Honorary pallbearers were Randolph Foster, Walter J. Curtis, Emory Russell, Wallace Russell, Louis Moore and Nelson Atkins Jr.
