“The voluntary soil conservation .efforts of America’s farmers are paying big dividends,” said Jim Porterfield, American Farm Bureau Federation technical specialist for land and water resources.

“The latest inventory shows that ^voluntary efforts such as conservation tillage, participation in the con.servation reserve program and .,other conservation efforts are reducing erosion to rates unheard of in the "-early 1980’s.”
