Speaking for the other side, Charlotte Tummeyer said she had lived on the road since she was seven years old and is a captain in the Flint Hill rescue squad. She said she was at the meeting when the name Jerico Road was chosen. “We did not name the roads for historical value but for E-911,” she said. “We want to see that people get the fastest possible service. We called the road what most people know the road as. It’s kind of sad to see people from other counties come in to tell us what name to call the road.” She said having to look up an unfamiliar name could make a rescue call take another 10 minutes.
