It is also easy to criticize a proposal when one is assured lifetime health coverage such as the retired military are receiving or people who are fortunate enough to have the help of Medicare and Medicaid.
But ask yourself, what would you do if you lost your job and thereby your health insurance? We have a classic example here in the county with the closing of the Aileen plant. So many of the workers there will be losing their health insurance. , What happens if the worker has a pre-existing condition, can he or she get future coverage? What is a serious illness should occur after the woker loses his insurance? How is he going to pay the bills? What if a bone marrow transplant would save the patient’s life but the insurance company refuses to pay for it?
There are many more facets that have to be addressed. It is so simplistic and downright cruel to hear people who are assured coverage by the government, namely senators, congressmen, aspiring senators, retired military and Medicare recipients to lobby against a health care proposal, by simply calling it “socialistic.”
