Cloverbud Club To Begin

A new 4-H Cloverbud Club for children, ages 5 to 8, is being organized in the Flint Hill community. An organizational meeting will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11 at the home of Rosalie Lysaght. Mrs. Lysaght will be the leader for the club for 1994-96. All children and parents who are interested are invited to attend.

The club will meet once a month for an educational program or workshop for the children. “Mrs. Lysaght has planned her programs , for the ‘94-95 year to focus on gardening, animals, and nature topics,” commented Helen W. Smith, Extension Agent. “A 4-H Cloverbud Club is really a club for pre-4-H age children that is designed to be educational and introduce them to 4-H project and activities,” she continued. ,

At the meeting on Oct. 11. the group will set a regular meeting time that suits everyone. It may be after school or early evening.

Health Programs Planned

The Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board invites persons 60 years of age and older to participate in the following Health Promotion/Screening Programs to be held at the Rappahannock Senior Nutrition Center: 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 14 VICAP Program by Carroll Glasker and at 12 noon on Oct. 21 Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar Check. i

, Flu Shots Offered

During October the Rappahannock County Health Department will have weekly flu shot clinics. The remaining dates are Wednesday, Oct 12 from 1 to 3 p.m. and Friday, Oct. 21 and Tuesday, Oct 25 from 9 to 11 a.m. on both days. The cost for the flu vaccine will be $10. Call the Health Department at 675-3516 if you have additional questions.

Support Group Meeting

The Blue Ridge Head Iiyury Support Group will meet from 2-4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 15 at Barbara’s house in Midland. Any head injuried person, family members, friends, persons interested in the problems of head iryuried persons or person interested in helping with the group are invited to attend. Developmental Screening

Rappahannock County Public School system is sponsoring a free developmental screening on children birth to five years of age from 1-3 p.m. during the month of October. Children will be checked for development in speech and language, general development, social skills and vision. This screening is not designed to determine if children are eligible for kindergarten.

Parenting Book Study To Begin

A parenting book study will begin at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12. This discussion is open to any interested person. “Parenting By Grace” is the book which will be used. This study has suggestions for parenting children of all ages. It focuses on ways to affirm, positively discipline and guide children as they grow. It will include learning exercises and ideas for enriching the parent-child relationship. The study will also include sharing of parenting concerns and experiences.

'Die study will be held at Washington Baptist Church on the corner of Gay and Porter Streets in Washington. Babysitting will be available and children are also welcome in the class. There is no charge for the study, but if participants would like to pruchase their own book it is available for $6. Books will be available on Oct. 12 or can be ordered in advance.
