Amissville 4-H Club: meets at 7 p.m. on the fourth Thursday at Bethel Baptist Church. Jennifer Gray and Linda Mallory, 937-5039, are club leadrs. Mrs. Gray and I met with the group last week on Sept. 29 to get organized and plan their projects for 94-95. ,

4-H Teen Club: a county-wide club for teens ages 13-19. Teens assist as teen leaders at 4-H camp, as 4-H Ambassadors, with the 4-H Achievement Night program and participate in numerous district and state events. Mary Beth Williams is serving as 4-H Ambassador Contact - in Rappahannock County for the 1995 4-H Congress.

For many club members the highlight of the year comes with the annual Culpeper, Madison Rappahannock Farm Show in the summer. Projects completed during the year are entered in the show.

Fall *94 is an exicting time for 4- - H in Rappahannock County. I’m also • happy to announce that we will be organizing a new 4-H Cloverbud Club and 4-H Junior Club at CCLC under the leadership of Hazel ZinnDay and Kim Goodwin. The Junior 4-H Club will meet on Wednesday, ~ Oct. 12 and the Cloverbud will meet from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. on Oct. 19. • Mrs. Zinn-Day’s enthusiasm for 4-H is contagious! Due to numerous rei quests from parents she has agreed to be the leader for these two groups.

With its commuhity centered ap^ proach, volunteer led base, family orientation, and public and private support, 4-H is the ideal youth program for today.

We often read or hear in the news, “What’s wrong with our youth today?” I’m proud of our local 4-H. program and “what’s right” with itl * From a philosophical viewpoint, 4-H' is a prevention program. It involves youth in educational, personal devel- \ opment-type experiences that help them to develop into productive citi- . zens. -♦

We have a sound 4-H program iiT Rappahannock County, but as the 4- . H motto, “To make the best, better,” says we’re continually striving to improve more youth.
