Originally, the house was a log cabin, and now that forms the central park of the main house which is about 150 years old. Like previous owners, the Closes changed and added to the house, when they converted a garage to a living room with a high ceiling, low skylights, and a bay window. Their love of stone is evident in the living room fireplace as in the view from the sweeping porch which overlooks a monolithic gray rock.
