Five members of the Rappahannock County 4-H Livestock Club participated in the Virginia State Fair this past weekend.
On Friday, Sept. 30 Mary Beth Williams and David Massie participated in the 4-H and FFA Stockman’s Contest which is a test of their knowledge of livestock. The contest included eight sections: 1) a written test; 2) identification of breeds of cattle, sheep and swine; 3) identification of equipment used with livestock; 4) identification of grains and forages fed to livestock; 5) identification of retail cuts of meat; 6) judging a class of beef; 7) juding a class of sheep; and 8) judging a class of swine.
