Pony Club
To Meet

A new 4-H Horse and Pony Club is being organized in Rappahannock County for youth, ages 9 to 19. The purpose of the 4-H Horse and Pony Club is for children to learn about horses, riding, and good sportsmanship. Club members will meet monthly for an educational program or workshop. Topics include breeids and types of horses, equipment .needed, safety, showmanship, nutrition and care of a horse, etc. For first year 4-H members, the two projects to be studied are “Horses are Fun,” a horseless project for children interested in horses but who do not own a horse, and ‘"Hie Novice Horse Project,” for children who do own a horse. Additional activies planned for next spring are horse judging, the hippology contest, and the District 4-H Horse Show.
The two volunteer leaders for the lcub for 1994-95 are Heather Marsh and Diana Corbin. A small group of interested youth and parents met on Sept. 28 at Ms. Marsh’s stable for an orientation with Helen W. Smith, Extension Agent. Other youth are invited to participate. If you are interested, please call Mrs. Corbin at 547-3452, Ms. Marsh at 987-9545, or the Extension Office at 675-3619. The group plans to meet again in October and invites all interested youth, ages 9 to 19, and their parents to call one of the persons listed above so that you can be notified of the next meeting.
