The Virginia Watercolor Society, the only statewide organization for artists, has issued a call for entries for its 16th Annual Jurored Exhibition, scheduled for June 10 through July 15 at the Longwood Center for the Visual Arts in Farmville.
The exhibition is open to any artist living in Virginia. Original water-media paintings on paper executed since Dec. 31, 1992, are eligible.
The juror for the exhibition is Ann R. Salisbury, of Raleigh, N.C., a nationally renowed artist and teacher.
Ms. Salisbury’s work was featured in American Artist magazine in November of 1993 and in Watercolor ‘94/She is a consistent award winner in juried exhibitions, and her paintings are in many private and corporate collections.
Ms. Salisbury was a board member of the 800-member Watercolor Society of North Carolina from 1984 to 1991. She states that her first criteria is technical competence. She has no preference for a particular style, but rather looks for uniqueness in composition, color, subject matter, and point of view.
