Before Monday’s committee i meeting, charter schools dominated the discussion during an education subcommittee meeting Friday.
Del. Alan A. Diamonstein, DNewport News, the subcommittee chairman, said he agreed with the idea of establishing a pilot program in Virginia, because this might clear up any unanswered questions the subcommittee had.
“I think the charter schools concept is good, but I don’t think the time is right,” he said during the meeting.
Supporters and opponents, including both bill patrons, showed up at the subcommittee meeting to express their opinions.
