In its 5th year, the JCPenney Golden Rule Volunteer Awards will be presented to groups and individuals in Northern Virginia, who through their volunteer work, play a vital role in improving the quality of life for others. The Northern Virginia Golden Rule Volunteer Awards, presented annually since 1990, have been expanded to include the Fredericksburg and Winchester areas and include Rappahannock County .
This year, 10 top awards and 15 finalist awards will be presented. A $1,000 grant will be presented to each of the 10 winners (including two youth winners, and two education winners) for the non-profit organizations associated with their efforts. Each winner will also receive a specially commissionecfWaterford crystal sculpture which symbolizes the spirit of voluntarism. Fifteen finalists will receive a $250 grant for their organization and a certificate of recognition.
