The Library Board elected officers and conducted some routine housekeeping chores before adjourning to a lunch provided by member Mary Jamieson last week.
Roberta Anderson was unanimously elected chairman, and Frank Warner was chosen as vice chairman. John Hartline was elected secretary', and Helen Platt was elected unanimously to continue as treasurer.
Before the election the board dealt with the issue of who would be available to let the sheriff or his deputies in when the alarm system goes off. When the library first opened, this was a constant problem. It occurs less frequently now, but the two board members who recently left the board, William Young and Grace Sims, since they lived the closest were the two who had the duty of opening the library when this occurs.
John McCarthy and John Hartline were the board members who will assume this responsibility. Library employee Betty Smith will also be available if needed.
Treasurer Helen Platt reported that library finances seem to be in good order half way through the fiscal year. Electricity is running ahead of projections, she reported, but there is nothing that can be done about that.
Mr. Warner reported that the bicycle rack and mat he had hoped to order was not available any longer
