Given the number of fire and rescue units in the County, you might think this should not be a big problem. However, Flint Hill is not alone in Rappahannock with their daylight coverage problems, and the term “quick response” can sometimes mean the difference between a happy ending and a tragedy.
The Flint Hill Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company needs you, the people of the Flint Hill area, to made a commitment to become either a Firefighter, a driver, a First Responder for Emergency Medical Services, an Emergency Medical Technician, or a Contributing member who works on fund raising. Each of these roles within the Fire Department is vital to the success of our efforts.
You might be saying that you would be overwhelmed with the training requirements to become an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician), but could you handle the short course to be a First Responder? We have a special need for you in that role. One of the possible solutions to providing that “quick response” is to have a core group coverage in case Flint Hill does not have the personnel to provide quick ambulance coverage and another Rappahannock EMS unit has to be called.
First Responders have the basic skills to handle emergency medical situations for a short period of time until the ambulance arrives with EMT’s, Cardiac Techs, and/or Paramedics. When you have a medical emergency and call for assistance, you need and expect someone to respond quickly who can assist you with your problems. Flint Hill VF&R needs you to help provide this type of response and is providing a First Responder Course beginning Feb. 20 so that you can be properly trained for
