The only team that has been winning lately at RCHS is the junior varsity basketball team.
They beat Manassas Park last Thursday 57-3$, which gives them seven wins and three losses in the .district. Coach Luther Stanley said that everyone contributed to the score in that game. “That was a good game. We played strong,” he said.
The JV lost a close game to Brentsville the next night, 68-60. High scorer was Jeff Atkins with 25. Jason Baldwin scored 11 points in the gatffe. Coach Stanley said they played a bad first quarter and made too many mistakes in the stretch, including two back-to-back turnovers.
The varsity basketball team lost to Manassas Park in the final seconds of the game, 50-51. Coach Eugene Baltimore said, “We basically gave Manassas Park that game. We shot 24 percent from the field, but had no intensity. I always tell the players 'When you let a team hang around, anything can happen in the last two minutes.’”
