Last year Chris Payne of Sperryville was selected as a youth winner for his work with the Sperryville Rescue Squad.
The national winner will receive a special sculpture and a $10,000 grant to his or her volunteer organization. The youth winner will receive a $5,000 contribution to his or her nonprofit organization and a $5,000 scholarship.
The JCPenney Golden Rule Awards program is spearheaded by business and community leaders who, as a judging and awards committee, are responsible for determining the winners and finalists.
The deadline for non-profit organizations to submit nominations for the 1995 JCPenney Golden Rule Awards is Tuesday, March 7. Nomination forms can be obtained now at the Catalog Desks of Northern Virginia, Fredericksburg, and Winchester JCPenney department stores, or by calling 703-385-1500.
