Dr. Gangel said a few of the increases may be offset by decreases from this year’s budget, but there will not be many of them.
Earlier he had presented the board with a chart listing all the classes county high school students have taken at Piedmont over the past nine years. Most classes have had only a few students complete a vocational course of study in that time.
Dr. Gangel said it may be possible to provide vocational education by expanding the high school and adding vocational programs. The county would continue to offer some vocational programs only at Piedmont, but the few students involved could probably be transported in cars rather than buses. He said the savings in tuition to Piedmont could pay off the cost of the addition and cover about half of the operating costs.
