YFU Seeks

Host Families

Youth for Understanding spokesman Jeanie McNear says that this is the time of year when recruitment begins for families to host foreign exchange students for the next school year.

This year Rappahannock County families have hosted six foreign exchange students, and Mrs. McNear hopes to find families for at least six more students for the coming year.

A lot of research and care goes into matching families with students, and it is possible for a host family to request a student from a particular country, said Mrs. McNear. She said that hosting a student is an extremely rewarding experience for all involved, and that the students are treated just like one of the family.

The students normally arrive sometime in mid-August and leave in early July.

If anyone would like to be a host family, call Mrs. McNear at 9878150, and she will be glad to talk about the YFU program.
