amend his motion to shut down both dumpster sites March 15 and eliminate tipping fees.

Mr. McCarthy noted that the county has a contract with Community Trash to service the dumpster sites that runs out June 30. “You cannot expect the contractor to walk away from two and a half to three months of a contract,” he said.

Mr. Massie said he would amend his motion again to read “as soon as possible but no later than June 30.”

That is the motion which was approved.

In a related matter Mr. McCarthy informed the board it would cost $25,000 to $35,000 to move trash in the two cells at the landfill to meet the 3 to 1 slope required by the state. Some of the trash will have to be moved to the new cell, he said. This will include putting a six-inch layer of dirt on the old cells. The county will have to pay an estimated $225,000
