It’s hard to believe, what with the snow and cold temperatures, but the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and Community (RAAC), the organization in charge of the Town of Washington’s 4th of July festivities, has begun meeting to make preparatiqns for the day-long celebration and evening fireworks display.
What is needed, says Ellen Manson, chairman of the 4th of July ' Committee, are volunteers and persons interested in working on various committees handling publicity, parking, logistics, vendors and performances. Manson also said she is interested in hearing from those wishing to perform on the 4th of July and those who wish to give a speech. A letter, she said, will be going out soon to vendors wishing to display their wares. For those who wish to help or perform or have questions, please contact Ellen Manson at 675-1349.
Baseball Registration
Rappahannock Athletic Association (RAA) will hold registration for baseball/softball from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 10, 17, and 24 at Amissville United Methodist Church and Rappahannock County Library. Parents are requested to bring registration fee and original or notarized copy of birth certificate.

Education Support Group To Meet
The February meeting of the First Thursday Education Support Group has been rescheduled for 7 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the Rappahannock Extension Office, Washington Arts Building, Gay Street. The School Budget Process will be the focus of the meeting and speakers, Dr. John Tole, Chairman of the School Board, and Mr. Hubert Gilkey, Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, will give their perspectives on this year’s difficult budget sessions. All are welcome to attend, we especially need input from high school parents.
Aerobic Classes Set
On going aerobic classes are held at the community penter in Washington. Morning classes are Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 9. Calf Beth Levick for information, 675-3108.
Ballet Classes Available
Creative movement/Ballet classes for children pre-K-5 are being offered at the Washington Community Center on Thursday afternoons. Cost is $30 for six classes. For more information call 987-3350.
Classes for Beginners
Sundance Stained Glass Studio will be offering classes for beginners. Tuesday night classes will start Jan. 29th from 7 to 9 p.m. and will run for 6 weeks. Cost, which includes all supplies needed is $125.
