I take this opportunity to convey my gratitude for all the kindness shown to me during the illness and death of my beloved husband. To all those who sent cards, flowers, food, your phone calls, visits and espcci prayers. There is no other way since the number is numerous. I want to especially say thanks to Melvin Jenkins for the wonderful attention he gave our cattle - also for opening our driveway to make it possible to get to UVA. To Mr. and Mrs. Roy lillis for driving us there at such an impossible time. To Mr. and Mrs. Ross Miller who left their home to care for ours while I was at the bedside of my husband. To Gary Settle, our new Sheriff whom we had never met, to come to our home and offer his condolences and any help I may need. To Rev. McKay for his friendship, kindness and impressive eulogy. To all the doctors and nurses who called to express their sorrow, to all those who embraced me at the funeral to wish me well - also to those who came by our home aTter the funeral to break bread together in his honor. To my wonderful sister-in-law, Ellen Hudson who has been with me through “it alf”. To Ellis Glasco who was with my husband with helping hands and love for so long and he himself went down with a serious illness only minutes after he had been by on Christmas Day. To him, I want to wish the best recovery possible. All this plus more has meant so much to me and proves love and kindness are the best medicine and will help me greatly on the rest of my journey.
