When the weather’s chilly outside, there’s nothing like chili on the inside to keep you warm and satisfy the appetite.
Chili can be made from many ingredients — ground beef, beef chuck roast cut into cubes, venison, ground turkey, or vegetarian chili using only beans, tomatoes and seasonings.
Since most people use ground beef, that’s what I’ll discuss in my foods and nutrition column this week. Chili is also an economical dish because a small amount of meat can be combined with low-cost beans and seasonings, to stretch the food budget.
