heavy truck traffic coming through Sperryville. the problem boils down to this: How to get through traffic out of the center of town without encouraging an increase in that traffic, so that Rappahannock County’s highways do not become major corridors through the state, with concurrent development, congestion, and pollution. 1

Express

Concerns

To the Editor:

If you are a concerned citizen, you need to express your concerns.

On Monday, Feb. 12, VDOT will hold a public meeting to go over proposals for a Sperryville “connector” road for U.S. 522 and get input from citizens. Representatives from VDOT will be at the meeting at the RCHS auditorium from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Anyone concerned about this corridor should stop by the high school and express their concerns. ,VDOT will likely have a way to express your views in writing. If your concerns are to be recognized in future VDOT ■' planning, it is really important that you participate. A large turn-out is critical.

The specifics of the Sperryville connector are of particular importance to the community as any change to the present traffic flow of U.S. 522 will affect the historic character, busines traffic, the serenity of the community and the potential for future expension.
