With over thirty years of service in community health, Ms. Tuffy brings extensive experience in hospice care and administration to the top management position at Hospice of the Rapidan. Most recently, Ms. Tuffy was Director of Nursing at Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville. Her experience in hospice care began in 1978 at Hospice of Miami in Miami, Fla.
Her background include community health and hospice work in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Florida. Ms. Tuffy is a native of Troy, New York, who has lived in Earlysville for the past five years.
“I am delighted to have the opportunity to work in this community,” Ms. Tuffy said. “I have had an increasing exposure here because my daughter married and resides in Madison, and over the past year, I have .enjoyed sharing with the people in this area.”
Pain management, comfort care, psycho-social support, and bereavement are integrated components of hospice care. Ms. Tuffy will manage an interdisciplinary team of 30 full and part-time staff members, including registered nurses, nurses aides, social workers, and chaplains who will provide care for about 200 patients and families in the coming
