Two traffic accidents occurred in the county recently due to the snow and ice.
On Jan. 29, Hugh Ramirez, 23, of Front Royal was driving on Route 729 in Flint Hill when his car slid off the road after hitting a patch of ice, according to an accident report filed by Deputy Chris Williams of the Sheriff’s Office. Mr. Ramirez was not injured.
Last Friday evening about 6:30 p.m., Matthew Scott Benson, 24, of Richmond, was southbound on Route 522 in a 1992 Ford when he lost control on the snow-covered road and struck a guardrail. The accident took place .8 mile south of Route 604 near Woodville. His vehicle sustained . $2,000 damage and $10 damage was done to the guardrail. The accident was investigated by State Trooper C.M. Moore, who did not charge Mr. Benson in the accident. No injuries were reported.
Last Thursday afternoon at 1 p.m. a 1993 Nissan 4-door operated by Jonathan Faulconer, 19, of Culpeper, ran off the left side of the road near the intersection of U.S. 211 and 211 Business in Washington and struck an embankment. Mr. Faulconer was not injured, but his vehicles sustained $8,000 damage. State Trooper Mike Woodard charged Mr. Faulconer with reckless driving..
On Sunday at 4:47 p.m. a two-car accident took place on Route 630 near Foster’s Packing House .7 miles west of U.S. 522 in Flint Hill. Michael L. Ramey, 40, of Front Royal, driving a
