Marijuana

Discovered

& a* t

Alert police work by Deputy Connie Compton resulted in the recovery of a large quantity of suspected marijuana from two juveniles early last Sunday morning.

Deputy Compton was patrolling when she observed a taxi cab pull into the parking lot at Mayhugh's Grocery at about 1:30 a.m. After it pulled out she saw two boys ages 13 and 16. When she questioned them she found alcohol, tobacco, a bowie knife and two boxes of ammunition as well as 330 grams of suspected marijuana.

Major Mac Welch said that amount is about half a grocery bag full. "We have three large evidence bags," he said.

Deputy Compton said the boys "advised me they were running away." Apparently they had planned to leave in the taxi cab but did not. She said one of.the boys had recently moved into the county.

The older boy is charged with possession of alcohol and possession of tobacco. Other charges are pending.
