to pay for all the federal costs of education, training, employment, social service, health (except Medicare), veterans' benefits, natural resources, environment and international affairs (including foreign aid). Alternatively, we could use that money to balance the budget in one year (not seven) and give everyone a substantial, safe tax cut.

In 1996, Jack Kemp has helped sell Bob Dole on the idea that he can adopt a major tax cut and balance the budget, partly through the magic of economic growth. There he goes again!

It is also worth noting that that $257 billion dollars a year represents a transfer of wealth frotn the pocket of the American taxpayer into the pockets of those persons here and aboard who are rich enough to own U.S. bonds.

To the Editor:

Voters are you interested in how the money in Virginia's Retirement System is administrated?

The first amendment on the November ballet about which Virginians are to make a decision reads as follows:

This amendment provides that the funds in governmental employees retirement system shall be trust fluids and be invested and administrated solely in the interests of the members and beneficiaries of the system.

Every voter should read the first proposed constitutional amendment, and vote "yes” for it if you think it is fair. Sometimes money in the Virginia Retirement System has not been handled in the best interest of the retired.

This amendment should be of concern for present state retirees as well as future state retirees.
