Mrs. Corbin learned about the program from reading about successful participants in the Culpeper newspapers. "I like the fact that anybody can do it. It also gives teenagers incentive to explore an, interest that they might not normally; explore." •
Best of all, she adds, "the volunteer hours will benefit the county.' I'm going .to develop a list of volunteer possibilities for teens."
Each participant is loosely overseen by a "mentor,” who can be any adult not related to the child. Mrs^ Corbin, for example, has agreed 4o be Allison Lofton's volunteer meiH tor. Scout leaders, schoolteachers, ministers, your best friend's Mom all make good mentors. .*
