on the fourth Thursday at 7 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church. They have done a variety of projects, mostly foods and nutrition. Children and teens ages 9 to 19 are invited to join.
4-H Cloverbud Small Animal Club — This club meets on the fourth Saturday, at 3 p.m. at the Extension Office to learn about small farm animals and pets. For children ages 6 to 8, their October meeting will be a fieldtrip on Oct. 26 to the Frontier Heritage Museum in Staunton. Linda Tarry, Sue Benner and several other parents are leaders for this group.
CCLC 4-H Cloverbuds (two clubs) — Hazel Zinn-Day is the leader for these two clubs for children in the after-school program. They meet monthly for an arts and craft or cooking project.
4-H Teen Club — The club meets at 2 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21, at RCHS. Thanks to the new block scheduling at the high school this year and the resource period for clubs, the 4-H Teen Club will be meeting once a month at school. The purpose is to have an educational program and acquaint teens with all the special leadership activities for teens — 4-H Day at the General Assembly in February, 4-H Congress at Virginia Tech in June, and serving as a teen leader at 4-H camps.
Teens who attend a private school or are home-schooled can be individual 4-H HOME members.
4-H Water Monitoring Project for 1996-97 — Under the leadership of Hunt Harris, 4-Hers and adults will be participating in a project to monitor the streams and rivers in the Rappahannock River watershed within our county. This project received a $300 4-H mini-grant from the state for supplies and educational materials.
4-H Clubs are for all youth in Rappahannock County ages 6 to 19. If you read about a club that your child would like to join, please contact the Extension Office at 675-3619.
