The curriculum is designed to assist the sheriff-participants develop structure for the office which meets the particular needs of the community each serves.
The two-week program is currently funded by Congress through an appropriation to the National Institute of Corrections which allows sheriffs to attend with no cost to the local government.
"It was a tremendous honor to have been recommended and selected to attend the school. It is the first time Rappahannock County has been represented at this Institute since its inception 24 years ago," Sheriff Settle said.
