Helen Smith Resigns

As Extension Agent

Helen Smith formally told the members of the Board of Supervisors Monday afternoon she will be leaving her position as Extension Agent responsible for home economics and sharing responsibility for 4-H by mid November.

Mrs. Smith is taking a position as home economics agent in Bedford County. With the transfer she will be able to join her husband David Smith who is principal of Liberty High School, one of three high schools in that county.

Mr. Smith's position as Director of Administrative Services was eliminated in the current school budget.

"I have enjoyed living and working in Rappahannock County," Mrs. Smith said. ”1 am proud of the program we have here, and 1 thank you for your support of the Extension program over the years."

She said she was certain Virginia Tech would move to fill the position with another agent.

Chairman Hubert Gilkey replied, "Thank you too for all you have done for the county."
