All 16 members of the Bed and Breakfast Guild of Rappahannock County now have a home and their own web pages in the Internet. • They were custom designed by Eric Rodney of Alternative Rousources Group in Front Royal and include a variety of color photos for each destination.

The third smallest of Virginia's counties, Rappahannock now has 94 bed and breakfast rooms authorized. Phil Irwin, proprietor of Caledonia Farm Bed and Breakfast said, "The market will probably be further divided by still more competitiors wishing to share the undeveloped scenic beauty of this still rural area so close to the urban corridor."

Conventional marketing was never considered affordably, Mr. Irwin said. Guild members readily accepted the cdllective offer from Alternative Resources for individual Internet sites.

For 11 years Caledonia Farm has "pioneered in B and B promotion," Mr. Irwin said. For the six months period ending April 30, 13 percent of his guests first discovered his establishment on the World Wide Web and inquiries were up 20 percent.

However, Mr. Irwin insists he, himself, intends to remain "computer illiterate, technologically devoid, relying on an 800 number and the always trustworthy 3x5 cards." , He said designing his own home page was his "biggest sales job ever,
