Makela include the Rappahannock Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) and the STARFISH@Headwaters mentoring program. From couponclipping projects in the Rappahannock Community Resource Center “Nutrition Site,” to peer support groups, academic counseling and career mentoring, members seek to foster relationships with the children and schools for the overall betterment of the community.
Recognition Day
On Thursday, April 23, the county public schools will celebrate Volunteer Recognition Day with an awards reception at the elementary school, hosted by the RCES student council. Performances by the fifth grade chorus, portions of the high school band, school staff members, and harpist Mary Ann Biggs, assistant school superintendent, are planned.
