Moore also said that Bill Watson, a landscape specialist with the VDOT Culpeper District office, will meet with citizens’ groups later this month to begin planning and design work on the gateway project. With county volunteers providing much of the labor, Moore hopes to be able to incorporate some of the landscaping effort into the construction contract itself.
Estes reported that, so far, four of the planned five-member gateway project committee have been appointed. Junk, Williams, Estes and Martin Woodard, co-owner of Faith Mountain Company in Sperryville, will serve. Francis “Buck” Payne was appointed as the fifth committee member.
