Jackson District Supervisor Ron Frazier said he had a problem with the expansion plan as it has been presented and particularly the plan for relocation of the athletic fields. He said he would like to see more work on the plans before the board approves the funding.

Welch said the relocation of the athletic fields should include funding of a track for the school. “We have had no track meets here since 1971. It’s a disgrace. I don’t think this county can not afford to do this.”

Gangel then requested additional funds for a 4.375 percent raise for bus drivers and additional funds for raises of 3.75 percent for other classified personnel. The board approved a 4.375 percent raise “across the board” for all classified personnel since it had agreed to fund an increase at the school board budget hearing for the classified personnel salaries.

It also approved Gangel’s request of $7,608 to be added to Function 1000 for an increase in health care insurance benefits for retirees.

The board approved Gangel’s request for an appropriation of $142,000 to Function 6000. Frazier voted no, all other board member voted for that motion.
