Mr. Clater was bom Oct. 23, 1939 in Sperryville, a son of the late Jesse Clark Clater and Mary Lucy Clater.
Mr. Clater served in the United States Army Reserves until his graduation from Rappahannock County High School. He then joined the United States Navy where he served for over five years until he was medically discharged. He was currently retired from Rental Uniform Company where he was a service representative for 28 years.
Survivors include his wife Loretta D. (Red) Clater of Amissville; two daughters Melissa A. Clater of Amissville and Mary Clater Catts of Rixeyville; a brother Daniel C. Clater of Front Royal and one grandchild.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, May 28 at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton by the Elder David A. Roberts. Burial was at Hillcrest Memory Gardens in Jeffersonton.
