Mitzi Young, of Washington, said the Real Estate profession owes a great debt to the county and real estate professionals as well as other professionals could pay a fee to the county.

Massie said the board should move on the issue of a food and lodgings tax and that he’d like to see a referendum on the November ballot. The issue would have to be decided before Sept. 1 in order to get on that ballot.

McCarthy and County Attorney Peter Luke will work to bring forward a package on a food and lodgings tax for the board’s July meeting.

McCarthy reported on the new public convenience site status and Luke said the old roadbed status is uncertain. He said the board may want to abandon that section of road and have VDOT include it in the sale of the land.

VDOT also requested the board use a new form for the request to add Four Springs Lane to the Six Year Road Plan.

Luke said the board must advertise updates for the fire and rescue service section of ' the county code for a public hearing next month. The F&RA is in support of the updates made by Luke. The board approved the motion for a public hearing on the matter.
