chosen
All-State
The Rappahannock High School track team officially ended its 1998 season when Adam Starks was named to All-State in two sports.
Starks took third place in the 300 meter hurdles at the state competition held at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville with a time of 40:2 seconds. He also.placed fifth in the state in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 15:8 seconds.
RCHS track coach Jim Roszak said, “We did well at regionals but didn’t place well enough to send more team members to state. It’s a tough region to say the least and we came close in several events. I was really pleased with this year’s team and their performance. I’m looking forward to next year, I feel in another year the track program will be in really good shape.”
Starks received the U.S. Marine Corp. Distinguished Athlete Award at last week’s annual Athletic Awards at RCHS and was also named the track teams’ most valuable athlete for the year.
