Woodville resident Sharon Kilpatrick said $3 million seems like a lot. “I’m not sure what you’re talking about getting for that....It seems like a lot for not a lot.”
Joy Sloane, president of RLEP, said, “It occurs to me that we need to look at other funding methods. If we tax people who are holding land out of existence — it will cease to exist.”
School board member Ron Makela supported Sloane’s comments. “It’s time for Rappahannock to look at all the possible ways to generate ways to bring in revenue to the county coffers. This is one of the few counties in the state that doesn’t tax businesses in any way.”
