The dominant issue of this month’s meeting of the Rappahannock Board of Supervisors was the offer, by Tom Moore, to donate to Rappahannock County the water system that he developed, and that serves the Wildwood Forest development in Culpeper. Residents from Amissville, other areas of Rappahannock, and from the Wildwood Forest development attended the meeting to express their sentiments on the matter. Moore described his water system as being very good, though iron and manganese are evident in the water. He noted that he had offered the system to Culpeper County and to a number of commercial concerns, but that none had expressed interest, and so would offer it to Rappahannock at no charge.
Moore said that most wells in the area have iron and manganese in them, and that his systems meet all Health Department requirements. He said that he thought the system might be useful in the Amissville area and suggested that a government agency should manage its operation.
