Expansion update
School Superintendent Dr. David Gangel provided a status report on the high school expansions. He said that although the project had been two weeks behind schedule, it is now back on schedule. Below grade electrical conduits and plumbing have been placed and the gravel is set in preparation for the pouring of the slab. “The weather is cooperating,” Gangel said, “and at this rate the project should soon be ahead of schedule.” Massie’s last meeting
Phil Irwin, owner of Caledonia Farms, stood to speak regarding the retirement of Michael Massie from the Board. He expressed appreciation for Massie’s “dedication, service, interest and knowledge” over the years. Massie received a present from the board: a chronometer. Massie said it had been a pleasure working with everyone.
New appointees
• Richard Smith has resigned from the Rappahannock County Water and Sewer Authority. His term would have expired on July 31, 2001, and Alexander Sharp was appointed to take over the position.
• Ellen Manson’s term on the Rappahannock-Rapidan Community Services Board will expire on Dec. 31. Kaye Kohler was appointed to the position and will serve on the board effective Jan. 1, 2000.
